Hi everyone, this month’s ATC swap in the UK Stampers’ Forum FB group has a theme of Yellow & Red, and unusually for me an idea sprang immediately into my head which involved using a poppy and a vintage script background. Here it is … I needed 3 ATCs for the challenge but made an extra one which I can trade separately.
I created a couple of gel plate backgrounds using Sundance Elements ink spritzed with water, then stamped each one twice with my background stamp (2nd generation) and cut each stamped area down to 3.25” x 2.25”. I stamped and heat embossed a poppy on each one and coloured them with a red Sakura Stardust pen and highlighted with white gel pen, then stamped another silhouette Poppy bud on each ATC and a little field grass in the background. I stamped and heat embossed the large Lavinia wording stamp “Keeping Faith” four times onto white card and cut out and attached my motivational word. Originally I was going to use the word “Believe”, but I decided to go with “Courage” as the vintage-feel poppies put me in mind of the soldiers in Flanders in World War I. I finished by edging each piece with black marker pen and matting onto red card stock cut to standard ATC size, and adding some white Posca pen faux spatters.
