Away With The Fairies (2) - Things With Wings

Good afternoon everyone - after my exciting news this morning about becoming a Lili's Little Fairy ( see here), I got quite carried away with the idea of fairies, and decided to make a couple of fairy cards.  I haven't actually done any crafting for a fortnight what with work and then going away on holiday, so I thought I needed to get a bit of practice in colouring :-) Bizarrely though I didn't choose one of my beloved LotV fairy images for this task - the reason being that I wanted to make cards for some autumnal challenges, and I thought this gorgeous Whimsy stamp by Sylvie Zet would best fit the bill. Also  I wanted to get some practice at colouring hair which I always find a bit of a challenge ... and the fairy on this stamp has certainly got a good head of hair to colour !!

Today's post could equally be called one image, two ways, as I have made two cards using the same stamp - the colours are also similar, but the style of the two cards is quite different. Both are quite outside of my comfort zone, as I never normally use these colour schemes.

First up is a CAS card which I made to highlight the use of autumnal colours.

Stamp: Whimsy set by Sylvie Zet (free with Papercraft Essentials magazine);
Sentiment: Pink Petticoat (digi);
Media: Promarkers and Flexmarkers;
Supplies: pearls from The Hobby House.

Challenges:
Passion For Promarkers #167 - Clean and Simple
Stamptacular Sunday #181 - Less Is More
Paper Pretties Wednesday #224 - No Patterned Paper
Without Words #1 - Autumn (CAS Card)
Papertake Weekly - A Hazy Shade of Autumn
Crafty Pad #188 - Autumn Colours
Addicted To Stamps #39 - Autumn Colours
Colour Me Creative #52 - Autumn Colours
Paper Shelter #82 - Autumn Colours
Crafty Catz #150 - Brown & Orange
Crazy 4 Challenges #154 - Anything Goes with a Fall Twist
Sparkles #36 - Away With The Fairies
Fab 'n' Funky #139 - Things With Wings
Crafting For All Seasons #36 - Things With Wings
Creative Craft - Anything Goes
Whimsy #51 - Anything Goes

Secondly I made a bit fancier card for three challenges:

Stamps: Whimsy fairy as before; Whimsy "Friendship Ticket" stamp; See-D birthday sentiment;
Media: Promarkers and Flexmarkers;
Papers: Prima "Botanicals";
Supplies: flowers and seam binding from Wild Orchid Crafts; pearls from The Hobby House; lace from my stash;
Tools: Leone Em "Ash Branch" leaf punch.

Challenges:
Crafty Calendar (September) - Browns & Creams
Wild Orchid Crafts # 59 - Autumn Colours

Rightee - that really is all now from me for today - though I hope to get some more crafting in before I go back to work on Monday :-)

A Wee Girl For Summer

Good afternoon, I'm back again for a rare second post on the same day (my Penny Black Saturday Challenge DT post is here). I made this card yesterday, but  by the time I'd finished the light was going so I couldn't get a decent photograph. However I made this card especially for the Ribbon Girl  colour challenge which closes today ... so here I am :-)

I've been desperate to ink up this darling stamp ever since I got her - she was part of a really fabulous set of Wee stamps designed by Sylvia Zet for Whimsy stamps, exclusively for this month's Papercraft Essentials magazine. I first saw her used on a fabulous card by my bloggy bud Squirrel; and when shortly afterwards I spotted the magazine in WH Smith I just had to buy it, even though I don't really buy many craft magazines nowadays. Mind you, my papers were also free in this month's Quick Cards Made Easy lol! .... I deliberately chose them so that I could tie my card in to the fabulous colour theme over at the Ribbon Girl.

Stamps: Image and sentiment both Wee Stamps by Whimsy (free in papercraft Essentials magazine);
Media: Promarkers and Flexmarkers;
Papers: Wild Rose Studio  "Butterfly Garden";
Supplies: cherry blossom flowers by Hobbycraft; all other flowers by Wild Orchid Crafts; pearls from The Hobby House; ribbon from my stash;
Tools: large classic oval and large classic scalloped oval nestabilities; Magnolia Doohickey "Lovely fence" die; X-Cut small butterfly punch.

Challenges:

Joanna Sheen - Summer Daze
Bunny Zoe's Challenge #25 - Girls, Girls, Girls!
Sentimental Sundays #108 - Cute & Girly
Corrosive #152 - Summertime Girls
Dream Valley #35 - Things With Wings
Craft Your Passion #116 - Things With Wings
Stampin' For The Weekend #12 - Show Us Your Style
(pink, girly and cute with lots of flowers)
Crafty Creations #176 - At Least 3 Different Types of Embellishment
(flowers, pearls, ribbon, diecuts, punched butterfly)
Dutch Dare #171 - Flutterby Butterfly
Allsorts #161 - In Bloom
Sweet Stampin' - Scallops
  Promarkers #123 - Anything Goes

That's all for today .. I'll be back tomorrow with a very special card for a new friend :-)

Creative Card Crew #53 - Easel Card

Hello everyone - hope you are enjoying the summery weather that we're getting at last. Another fortnight gone, and before we know it it's time for another Creative Card Crew challenge. Thankyou to eveyone who entered last fortnight's "thankyou" challenge - superb entries as always - don't forget to visit the main challenge blog to see if you have won Victoria's superb SU prize.

Before we get onto the next challenge, we have some very sad news - Paula our blog owner has decided to step down for personal reasons. We'll all really miss her, but understand her reasons and just hope she'll keep in touch. meanwhile we have a new CCC owner in the form of the lovely Janna - so hope you will all continue to support the challenge.

So .... onto this fortnight's challenge - we would like to see you make an

Easel Card

We are sponsored this time by Whimsy Stamps

who are offering one lucky randomly drawn winner a $15 gift certificate to spend in their store - lovely!

We have all tried our best to use Whimsy products this week - I have just the one Whimsy stamp, but boy is it a cute one ... this darling little owl. I won this sweetie about 12 months ago from Quixotic Paperie and am ashamed to say I haven't inked it up until now ... looking at it I really can't think why that should be, cos he's just adorable!

I have coloured him with a mixture of Promarkers and a few new Copics I bought at the weekend (just to fill in some colour gaps, you understand lol!). I didn't really have a sentiment to suit, so I just hand wrote one - eek!! I dressed it up a bit though by matting it onto a fancy tag.

Recipe:
Main image: Whimsy Stamps, coloured with Promarkers and Copics;
Papers: My Mind's Eye "Quite Contrary";
Supplies: flowers - Prima "Painterly Petals"; pearl brads and spacers from The Hobby House; ribbon from my stash;
Tools: large classic circle and large classic scalloped circle nestabilities; "Fancy tags" shapeabilities; Martha Stewart "Woodland Bough" edge punch; Leone Em "Ash Branch" leaf punch.

I would like to enter this one for the following challenge:
Paper Play #24 - Something Old (my cute Whimsy stamp!)
Totally Gorjuss #35 - Sugar & Spice
Whimsy June Challenge - Summer

Last but not least ... my cute owl is not the only Whimsy product I have used today ... as luck would have it a few days ago I bought a matching Whimsy Stamps digital signature and watermark - posh eh?? lol! At this rate I'll be in danger of starting to look organised!

Have a great week.
