Penny Black Saturday #183 - CASE It!

Good morning crafters, and welcome to the first Penny Black Saturday Challenge for 2012!

Thanks to everyone who entered our Christmas tags challenge over the festive period - hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year, and don't forget to check the main challenge blog to see if you are a winner.

This week we are starting with the first of a new regular monthly challenge theme, which is to CASE a  favourite PB card chosen by a member of the DT. If you haven't heard of this before, CASE means "copy and share everything" - in other words, just let elements of the card such as the image, colours, layout or theme inspire you. If you have a look at the gorgeous samples made by the rest of the DT you'll get the idea!

We are starting with our lovely teamie Beth, so this week's challenge is to

CASE the following card by Beth

To help you get in the mood we have a fabulous prize from our regular sponsor The Ribbon Girl

and it is this yummy yellow mini-ribbon kit.

Don't forget that to be eligible for the prize you should link to a new piece of work which features a Penny Black image stamp, large sentiment or stickeroo as its main focus.

Here is my effort for this week.

This actually was a bit of a challenge for me, as I don't really craft using the colours red, white and  blue (particularly red!) so I didn't really have any suitable papers. That being the case I decided to focus on copying the concept of stars and just to allude to the colour scheme.

My best option was to use my Marianne D star bauble die with coloured card behind it, so I made my background by embossing white pearlised card with star shapes. My hedgie image should normally be raising his arms to flowers, but I thought it might work if I masked off that part of the image, and I  then cut out teeny holographic silver card stars using my Cuttlebug "Snowflakes #2" die set - I rather like how that turned out lol!

Stamps: Penny Black "Hedgehog Joy" ;
Media: Promarkers and Flexmarkers;
Supplies: red and blue matt mirri card, silver holographic mirri card; ribbon, gems and peel-off from my stash;
Tools: small, large and lacy circle nestabilities; Marianne D Creatables star bauble die; Cuttlebug "Snowflakes #2" die (stars); Cuttlebug "Christmas Stars" embossing folder.

Challenges:
Fabulous Fridays - No Patterned Paper
Crafts & Me  #66 - Anything Goes (3rd entry)

Look forward to seeing another year of your fab Penny Black creations :-)

Penny Black Saturday #177 - Christmas Gold + Presents

Good morning to you all, and welcome to another Penny Black Saturday Challenge. Last week we gave you the chance to start really cracking on with those Christmas cards with our silver + snowflakes theme, and as aways you didn't disappoint with some fabulous entries.

This week we are continuing with our November month of Christmas challenges, and this time the theme is

Gold + Christmas presents

We also have a fabulous prize on offer for a randomly drawn winner, in the shape of a $20 online store voucher from our sponsor 1-2-3 Stitch.

 Don't forget in order to be eligible for our prize you should submit a new piece of work with a Penny Black image, large sentiment or stickeroo as its main focus.

The rest of the DT have provided some inspirational samples as always - this is what I did.

I have to admit I was struggling with this theme at first, as I didn't think I had any PB Christmas stamps available which included gifts ... nor any gold papers or ribbons! After a bit of a trawl I remembered I had this adorable little hedgie dozing by his Chrimbo stocking,a nd I also found the remnants of an old paper pad with gold foil patterns on it. I alsod ecided to go for a change from my usual method of glittering wtih glamour dust, and glittered the fur cuff ont eh stocking with Pee Wee Art Glitter in "crystal" - it gives a fine but slightly denser coverage than glamour dust which I think works very well with fur :-)

Stamps: Penny Black transparent set "Christmas Critters";
Media: Promarkers and Flexmarkers; stocking decorated with Pee Wee Art Glitter in "crystal";
Papers: Papermania "A Silent Night";
Supplies: flowers from Prima Christmas bubble; gems from The Hobby House; sentiment by Craftwork Cards; brads, spacers and ribbon from my stash.

Challenges:
Daring Cardmakers - Bejewelled
Penny  Black Blog Challenge - Enhance Your Image With Gem Accents
Totally Gorjuss #106 - Christmas Traditions (Santa's stocking!)

Have a great weekend and hope you can join in this week.

Penny Black Saturday #173 - On The Move

Good morning and welcome to another Penny Black Saturday Challenge. Thanks to everyone who rocked our age challenge last week - brilliant entries as always, and don't forget to check the main challenge blog to see if you are a winner.

This week's challenge is

On The Move

Perhaps you will want to show an image that includes transport (cute critter with cars, bicylcles etc!), or perhaps a card with a moving part - or even a New Home card. You can interpret the theme however you want, so long as you include a Penny Black image, large sentiment or stickeroo as the main focus of your new project.

This week's prize is an adorable PB stamp from our lovely former teamie Carole, called "Roses on the Run".

The rest of the team have really got moving this week ....do go check out their lovely projects.  I felt as if I w as running along behind as I struggled a bit to work out what I would do (I don't have any cute PB critters in cars or riding bicycles!!). Eventually however I settled on a New Home card, and chose this sweet image of a hedgie peeping out of a plant pot which he has quite clearly moved into lol!  As it so happens a lady I'm friendly with in work moved house last week, so I was able to find a new & good  home for the card straight away :-). It now turns out that our teamie Beth is also getting the key of her new house today - that's either a spooky coincidence or synchronicity lol!

Here's the result of my efforts.

Stamps: Penny Black hedgies from transparent set "hugs"; LotV sentiment circle;
Media: Promarkers and Flexmarkers;
Papers: Prima "Botanical" (includes the sweet little postcard!);
Supplies: flowers by Sweet Lilac and Wild Orchid Crafts; pearls by Wild Orchid Crafts; key charm from Quixotic Paperie; lace and ribbon from my stash;

As you can see, having remembered I had these gorgeous key charms to give Nat the "key of the door" last week, I got on a bit of a roll and decided to give the recipient of this one the key of the new door!!

Challenges
The Stamp Man - Circle it!
Totally Gorjuss #102 - Bingo! (Lace / Ribbon / Bow)
One Stitch At A Time #83 - Anything Goes

Hope you can join us this week - have a great weekend!

Penny Black Saturday #172 - Age ... is just a number

Woo hoo .. it's Saturday and so it's time for another Penny Black Saturday Challenge. Thanks very much for all last week's fabby entries - don't forget to check out the main challenge blog to see if you are a winner.

This week we are celebrating, as Thursday was our lovely teamie Nat's 21st birthday ... happy birthday hun!!

So in honour of this momentous occasion this week's challenge theme is

Age ... is just a number

Yes we would like to see any birthday cards with a number on them. It doesn't have to be 21, though many of us in the team took the opportunity to make Nat a card :-)

This week we have another fab prize from one of our regular sponsors - 1-2-3 Stitch has donated a $20 gift voucher for their online store.

Don't forget, to be eligible for the prize you need to submit a new piece of work which features a Penny Black image, large sentiment or stickeroo as its main focus.

All my fellow teamies have really done themselves proud this week - here is my 21st birthday card which I made for Nat.... I masked the PB stamp as she was originally holding a handbag, so that she could hold the "key of the door" instead!

Stamps: Penny Black "light the night" (3687K); LotV calendar circle;
Media: Promarkers and Flexmarkers; deocration with glamour dust;
Papers: Bo Bunny;
Supplies: flowers by Wild Orchid Crafts and Sweet Lilac; pearls from The Hobby House; lace from Wild Orchid Crafts; heart gems by Papermania; ribbon and charm from my stash.

Challenges:

Penny Black Saturday #171 - Down On The Farm

Good morning everyone and welcome to another Penny Black Saturday Challenge! Sorry I'm a bit late - messed up my scheduled post again (blush!!). Alas I didn't join in last week as I was just on my way home from my holiday in Greece and hadn't managed to get that far ahead in my DT makes (though I managed to schedule a post for the week before :-)  ). Anyhoo I've had chance since I got back to look at the entries for last week's monochrome challenge, and they are fab as always! Don't forget to check out the main challenge blog to see if you have won!

Now I'm back to reality and have managed to get myself geared up to join in with this week's challenge which is

Down On The Farm

Yes, it's time to break out all those cute PB creatures you may find down on the farm ... don't you just adore the PB cows, pigs, geese, hens etc? I think they just make such fun cards!

And to help you get in the mood we have two fabulous prizes for two randomly drawn winners :

From Penny Black, this gorgeous stamp: 3888K "Winter Glitter"

and from The Ribbon Girl, this gorgeous mini-kit in lavender

The rest of the DT have been happily singing "Old MacDonald" this week and have come up with some adorable creations. Here is my attempt.

Recipe:
Main image: Penny Black "bundle of wishes" (2612H) coloured wtih Promarkers and Flexmarkers;
Sentiment: LotV;
Papers: ??;
Supplies: flowers by Sweet Lilac; ribbon, lace and pearl brad from my stash;
Tools: Scalloped square and lacy circle nestabilities; Martha Stewart "garden trellis" edge punch.

Here's a closeup of the sweet image. I'm still getting to grips with my new Flexmarkers - I used the Blue Grey 1 and Glacier Blue for shadowing but they are incredibly faint ... can you see them??

Challenges:

Allsorts #123 - At Least 5 Flowers
(hope the ones on the image and paper count lol!)
Simon Says - Anything Goes (2nd entry)
Paper Sundaes #88 - Anything Goes
Creatalicious #26 - Anything Goes (3rd entry)

I am also entering this into the Penny Black Blog Guest DT post for World Cardmaking Day - they are asking for your best new PB card between Saturday morning and Sunday evening ... well this is actually my ONLY PB card that I have managed to produce over the weekend lol! I have uploaded it onto Flickr but am mentioning it here also :-)

Hope you can join in this week! Have a great weekend.

Penny Black Saturday #169 - Friendship

Good morning all, and welcome to another Penny Black Saturday Challenge. the DT had a totally delicious time last week looking at all your yummy creations .. don't forget to check the main blog to see if you are a winner!!

This week we have a theme that I'm sure you'll all enjoy ...

Friendship

What's not to like about making a card for a special friend? .. and Penny Black stamps have a whole variety of images and sentiments that suit this theme so well :-) The other teamies have made some fabulous creations - do go take a peek!

Taking of sentiments ... I decided to ring the changes this week and make a sentiment stamp the focus of my card. I really like a lot of the PB sentiments, and so it was good to be able to give one prominence on my project.

I would love to be able to say this card was quick and easy to make seeing as it didn't involve any colouring of an image - but alas that wouldn't really be true lol!! I actually spent ages faffing around choosing flowers and ribbon ... I'm sure you know how it is!

Recipe:
Main image; Penny Black setiment stamp "friends matter" (4073F);
Papers: Pink Petticoat "Vintage Rose";
Supplies: All pink flowers by Sweet Lilac; white cherry blossoms and green roses from Wild Orchid Crafts; floral ribbon, pearls and pearl spray from my stash;
Tools: martha Stewart "eyelet lace" PATP and large monarch butterfly punches.

Penny Black Saturday #168 - Delicious!

Good morning all - it's time for another Penny Black Saturday Challenge! Thanks so much to everyone who joined in with scenic creations last week ... a bit lower number of entries than usual so I guess some of you struggled ... but those who managed it made a wonderful job!

This week we have a theme that we hope you'll find sweet in all senses of the word - we would like to see something

Delicious

on your projects :-) As always you  an interpret this however you choose so long as you submit a new project and we can see a Penny Black image, large sentiment or stickeroo as its main focus.

This week's fab prize is a $20 store voucher from 1-2-3 Stitch - lovely!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's deliciousness - here is mine for this week.

I actually have three or four Penny Black images that involve food (plus a couple more that involve champagne and that's also pretty delicious in my book!!) ... but I can never resist this cute mouse falling asleep in the chocolate box after over-induging!  I decided to make an easel card specifically so that I could enter a couple of additional challenges; and I added a charm so I could enter a couple more :-).  How cute is this charm??

Easels are very difficult to photograph as I'm sure we all know, and also on this one I couldn't seem to get a true colour in the dull light ... but here is closer view of the front anyway. It also seemed particularly appropriate for the image to use a big "chocolate box" bow!

Recipe:
Main image: Penny Black "Sweet Slumber" (1916J), coloured with  mixture of Promarkers (Cinammon, Tan, Cocoa, Sandstone, Blush, Dusky Pink, Baby Pink, Cerise) and Copics (RV02, RV10, E31, E50, E51, E53)
Sentiments: Penny Black transparent sets "Salutations" (on card) and "Bubbly" (on tag);
Papers: Papermania "Forever Friends - Springtime";
Supplies: pearls from The Hobby House; Papermania pink heart gems; ribbon, lace and choc bar charm from my stash;
Tools: labels ?? nestabilities; Martha Stewart "doily lace" edge punch;  Marianne D Creatables doily die; Magnolia doohickey "vintage tag".

I must confess I do major on Promarkers, but I have a few Copics for specific purposes such as colouring fur, and I have a couple of pink ones!! :-)

Hope you can join us this week with your delicious creations - have a great weekend!

.... and talking of something delicious, whilst writing this post I have just had a knock ont he door, and a neighbour has handed over a package that the postie left with them this morning, containing my 24 all new Letraset flexmarker pens - YAY! Woo hoo!! (Pity the postie didn't see fit to leave a card through the door but I guess you can't have everything!)

It is Friday night now as I write this for scheduling, and I really don't know how I'm going to contain myself until tomorrow to have a play with my new toys ;-)
