Mooch With Honeysuckle

Hi everyone, this month’s challenge on FB over at Country View Crafts is Stencil Magic, and there is a fantastic prize on offer of a set of Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stains. I don’t have any spray inks or paints but wouldn’t mind having a go with them, so I felt motivated to enter.

It’s been a bit of a struggle as the entries have to use brands stocked by CVC, and although I have quite a few stencils most of them are by other brands. However I came up with an idea using a Lavinia stencil and stamps and utilising a die cut frame which I fortuitously found in my stash! It is also really summery … Here it is.

I cut a piece of stamping card slightly larger than the aperture in my stitched frame, and lightly stencilled onto it using my brick stencil and Elements ink. I then stamped Mooch the cat and the beautiful honeysuckle, and stamped the bees Bumble and Hum so that they slightly overlapped the frame. I coloured the honeysuckle and bees with watered down Posca sparkle pen paints, and added Wink of Stella to the bee wings. I added a few white Posca pen highlights to Mooch and the bees, then stamped a birthday sentiment onto the frame. I stuck the image panel behind the frame and matted into pink card stock and a card blank, and finished off with some gold Posca spatters.

Here’s the obligatory angled photo to show the shine on the honeysuckle and bees.

Stamps: Lavinia Mooch, Honeysuckle, Bumble and Hum; Visible Image Birthday Wishes (sentiment);
Media: Lavinia Elements ink (Confetti); Versafine Clair (Nocturne, Hawthorn Rose); Posca Sparkle pens (pink, red, yellow, orange, green, purple); Wink of Stella; Posca pen (gold);
Tools: Lavinia Red Brick stencil; Hunky Dory Duo- Stitched Square dies.

So beauifully designed Pauline, love how you framed the scene and how parts of the images are outside the frame. The golden spatter finishes it off so nicely. And a great closeup picture of the honeysuckle blossoms, I can imagine how sweetly it smells.
Thanks so much for joining in with my optional theme at Allsorts challenge this week.
