Papertake Weekly GDT - Sketchie!

Here's my card for this week ... I think there was a teeny bit of confusion over which sketch was the one for this month so I'm not publishing it here ... but I'd changed it a bit anyway due the extremely large size of my stamp, so that's probably a mercy (call it artistic licence lol!!).

I've gone in a bit of a different direction for me with this card, driven by the yummy vintage-style "Country Lady" papers by LotV. I somehow came over all vintage and non-cute, so I rummaged in the depths of my stamp box and pulled out this Inkadinkado floral stamp with script writing... I really love it but sadly have not used it for a loooooong time!!  This was also the first time in a long time I have broken out my heat embossing powder and Twinkling H2O paints - scary or what?

Oh Christmas Tree!

More miserable weather yesterday, so I decided to stay in and do a bit of crafting. Every now and again I like to bring out this huge tag-shaped stamp by Inkadinkadoo as I think it makes a lovely traditional card, especially when teamed with BasicGrey paper. Also it has struck me as particlarly apt fo this week's SImon Says Challenge, which I was particularly keen to enter this time as they are offering a whopping $50 prize - how fabulous! I'm sure I'm not alone in suffering from winter-itis when it comes to taking card pics though - the light is so dull here this morning that everything looks decidedly dreary and all the sparkle and glitter is lost in translation :-( Can you just about make out the glitter on the snowflakes and roses in this closeup?? I made a couple more cards to add to my Christmas box, again following the theory of making similar but not identical cards in the hope of being a bit quicker (didn't particularly work with these, but there y'go lol!!)

Friday Sketchers with a Cupcake

As soon as I saw the Christmas/New Year Friday Sketchers #33 sketch I thought it would be good to work with, and after I went out to the craft sales just after Christmas I knew immediately what I wanted to do .... it has just taken me until last night to get round to doing it LOL! A stamp which I bought at 40% off was just made for this challenge, and also enables me to kick start my NY resolution (one which I think is shared by many) to get ahead with Christmas cards for 2009.

I was really pleased with how this card turned out, and it didn't actually feel weird making a Christmas card.

I also thought this card would be good for this week's Cupcake Crafts Challenge #21, which is glitter .... the DT say yhey would like the card to have glitter and sparkle on it. Well, my card has both .... glitter card snowflakes, sparkly holographic embossing powder on the main image, and sparkly fibre in the lace - so hopefully it well qualifies.

Main image is Inkadinkado Tin Can Mail, inked with Brilliance pearlescent ivy and embossed wtih holographic powder, which is much sparklier thatn the photo shows. Sentiment is Woodware clear stamps, stamped onto a Cuttlebug tiny tag. background papers are all BasicGrey "Figgy Pudding" - another craft shop bargain in the sale!! the snowflakes are Cuttelbug snowflakes #2 die, cut from glitter card and decorated with papermania gemstones - I made them a little mat as they didn't show up against the patterned background paper. lace with sparkly fibre is from Hobbycraft.

Birthday card for my special mum

This afternoon's main task was to make a birthday card for my mum - she has been very unwell, so I wanted to make a good effort. Had in mind before I started broadly how I wanted it to look, so it's fortunate that I think it fits in reasonably well with this week's Arty Girlz Challenge #46 - vintage. I'm pretty pleased with how it has turned out so hope she will like it!

My image stamp is by Inkadinkado "Tin Can Mail" and is coloured with Cosmic Shimmers and Twinkling H2O's. The sentiment is by Hero Arts, flowers by Prima, and letters Cuttlebug "Hippie Chick" alphabet; paper is by Melissa Frances and lace is from my stash.

Need to pop this in the post tomorrow morning, but now it's done i feel I can relax a bit more and hope to try one or two more challenges whilst the light holds!

Happy 50th birthday to Gail

My friend and colleague Gail is 50 today, so I made her this card and gave it to her during the week. I believe she likes fairly traditional colours such as red, gold and green so tried to incorporate them into the design.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge 4 - Buttons and Brads

I made this card this afternoon for the PB Saturday challenge, which this week specifies that the card should use buttons and brads. It is also my Docrafts July friendship card for Evelyn C. This was certainly a challenge as I rarely use buttons so had to actually raid my sewing box!

The main stamp is by Inkadinkado, coloured with Cosmic Shimmer paints and Twinkling H2O's, and the sentiment is PB "..second self". Round metallic brads are by Papermania, the dragonfly brad is by Lakeland, and the flowers are by Prima. Papers, ribbon and buttons are all from my stash. Hope you like it!
