Oldie But A Goodie #24 - Francesca's Sketch

Hi there, and welcome to another Oldie But A Goodie challenge. This is my first card for about two weeks, as I have just got back from a week's holiday, and before that I had a bit of a health crisis (thankfully resolved !) .. so apologies that I didn't manage any commenting over the past fortnight. Hopefully things will settle back down to normal now ... so on with the next challenge!

This fortnight we have got a fantastic sketch for you by Francesca

We also have a fab prize - this fortnight we are sponsored by Stempelkallan. Don't forget that to be eligible for the prize you should follow the sketch and also use a stamped image (no digis please) that is at least 6 months old - that's why we're called An Oldie But A Goodie ;-)

Here's my card - Francesca's sketch inspired me to make my first Christmas card of the year ... and not before time (eek!)

I had to overcome the temptation to use one of several uninked newbie stamps I have got around the place at the moment; as I wanted to make a card which would also tie in with this week's sketch over at Lili of the Valley. Oldie But A Goodie #20 - Lots of Layers

Good morning, and welcome to another Oldie But A Goodie Challenge. Thanks so much to everyone who entered my Teddy Bears' Picnic challenge last time - I looked at every entry in order to pick my winner and top 3, and they were all adorable! Sorry I wasn't able to leave any coments but Mr Blogger has been so naughty this past week!!

This time it is Debs' turn to pick the challenge theme, and she has chosen a really fab one which is

Lots of  Layers

Debs has also donated this yummy prize of papers, ribbons and flowers..

Don't forget that to be eligible for the challenge prize you should submit a new project using a stamped image (no digis please) that is at least six months old.

Here's my card for this challenge. I decided to go for a vintage/shabby chic look to build up my layers, as there are a few challenges around on that theme right now.

I created my image background by daubing "Tattered Rose" and "Antique Linen" distress inks onto an acrylic block and spritzing with water before stamping, and then built up the colour some more with more distress ink and a stencil brush. (Top tip: I bought a set of Dreamweaver stencil brushes after seeing them used in a demo for distressing at Port Sunlight - they create a really good blened effect with no harsh edges if you brush in circular motions on your non-stick craft mat). I then randomly stamped a Crafty Individuals text background stamp onto the background using more "Antique Linen", and swirls from a "Butterfly Kisses" set with"Tattered Rose". Finally I stamped my main image in "Walnut Stain" - two stamps from the Lavinia "dandelions" set. I struggle to describe any stamp as my favourite, but this set is definitely right up there.

I built up my layers using three different patterned papers from the BasicGrey pad "Capella" (thanks Laurie!) and then stamped a LotV postcard stamp onto a 4th plain paper, which I then distressed with "Tattered Rose". I stamped my Whiff of Joy greeting onto the postcard, and finished off with an assortment of flowers and lace from Wild Orchid Crafts, pearls from The Hobby House, and a Dovecraft dragonfly brad.

Having completed my card I realised that the postcard stamp I used isn't actually 6 months old .... but my main image flowers, background text and swirls are all older ... so on this occasion I will regard the postcard as a bit of a sideline lol!

Challenges:
BasicGrey #45 - Shabby Chic
Paper Sundaes #71 - Vintage or Shabby Chic
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Your Favourite Stamp (Lavinia "dandelions")
Dream Valley #8 - Stamp Something
Stamp With Fun #113 - In The Garden
Incy Wincy #96 - Nature
Allsorts #105 - Things With Wings
Crafty Purple Frog - Things of Beauty
Bunny Zoe's Challenge #12 - Lace (2nd entry)

Hope you can join in this time - looking forward to seeing your creations, and hopefully being able to comment on them over the next two weeks!

Oldie But A Goodie #19 – Teddy Bears’ Picnic

CIMG2351
Good morning everyone – hope you’re having a good week. It’s time for a new Oldie But A Goodie Challenge – thanks so much to everyone who entered last time, and don’t forget to check whether you’re a winner.
Before we get on to this week’s challenge – we have a couple of bits of news. Sadly due to family illnesses and other commitments we have lost a couple of members of the DT over the past few weeks, and they will be sadly missed. However the good news is that this means the blog is running a DT call – both for full time and and guest designers. be sure to check out the main blog for further details!
So on to this fortnight’s challenge – today it is my turn to pick the challenge theme :-) and I have chosen
Teddy Bears’ Picnic
We would like to see your creations featuring teddy bears …. and if you can optionally  incorporate a picnic theme as well, so much the better!!
We are sponsored this time by Stämpelkällan who are offering a randomly drawn winner their choice of 5 stamps :-) … they have also had a new release of stamps yesterday (16th May) so be sure to check them out!
Don’t forget .. to be eligible for this week’s prize you should submit a new project whose main focus is a hand stamped image (no digis please) which is at least six months old!! This explains why despite buying some adorable new release LotV teddy bear stamps at Port Sunlight on Saturday, I will NOT be showcasing them right here and now ;-)
The other ladies have produced some fab teddy creations .. here’s mine.

Oldie But A Goodie #17 – Fit For A Queen / Princess

CIMG2236
Good morning everyone, and welcome to a new Oldie But A Goodie Challenge. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to join in the fun last fortnight, but I’ve now gotten myself back into gear ready for this challenge.
Thanks as always to everyone who entered last fortnight’s Wedding or Anniversary challenge – there were some really gorgeous creations!
Anyhow, on to this fortnight’s challenge, and Lisa has chosen the theme for you … mindful of the fact that we have both the Royal Wedding and the Queen’s birthday coming up in the next two weeks, it is
Fit For A Queen or Princess
And we have a fab prize from our sponsor Die Cut Dreams – don’t forget to check out the challenge blog for full details.
Also a quick reminder – to be eligible for the prize you should submit a new piece of work and use a stamped image (not a digi) that is at least 6 months old ... so have a little riffle through your stamp box to find an old but loved stamp ... and of course have fun!! :-)
The other ladies on the DT have really rocked this challenge and there really are loads of interpretations, including a street party theme and “little princess” birthday cards … but I have to confess that initially i hadn’t a clue what to do!!  I didn’t have anything suitable in my stash and don’t have any small children in my life, so was rather struggling. My dear friend Helen did actually send me a couple of suitable images to play with, but meantime I was naughty and ordered a set of stamps which had a particular image that I really loved. (OK, so the stamp is new to me … but it was released several years ago so I’m defining that as being ok on this one occasion ;-)  )
So here’s the result … I kinda went off the wall with this one and produced a goth fairy princess !! :-)
CIMG2236
Recipe:
Main image: Debbi Moore Designs “Kerry Jo set 1”, coloured with Promarkers and liberally dusted with glamour dust (much more so than the picture shows!!)
Sentiment: same set as above;
Papers: Doodlebug;
Supplies: roses and gardenias by Lovely Lilac (from Crafts4U2Do), rosebuds, lace and gems from Hobbycraft;
Tools: small, large and lacy circles nestabilities.
CIMG2231
Challenges:
Allsorts #99Sketch (flipped)
PaperPlay #15Photo Inspiration
Colour Create #68Pink + Black + White
Paper Sundaes #65Texture Paper Romance #46Flower Power
That’s all for today – hope you can join in with this fortnight’s Oldie But A Goodie Challenge.
