Snippets Blogoversary

Hi everyone, this fortnight the Snippets Playground is celebrating a special Blogoversary - 13 years since Miss Di took over the reins and the thankless task of keeping us all on the straight and narrow … aided latterly by her partner in crime craft Sarn, whose legendary Treehouse parties will still be talked about by future generations! So in honour of this auspicious occasion I decided to make a card entirely inspired by the need to use up snippets!

Before Christmas I purchased a popular new AALL & Create die set as part of some challenge winnings over at Simon says Stamp - but hadn’t used it until now as I wasn’t sure what to do with it. However it was clear that it was perfect for using up some of my mountain of white card snippets - I even took a picture for once!

Here’s the resulting card - I decided to make my first Christmas card of 2025 using a variety of Lavinia stamps.

I die cut all the pieces from the die set, and edged all the inner pieces with blended Distress Oxide ink in Mowed Lawn. I stamped tree branch  onto the largest rectangle using Pinecone VFC then perched Bobby on top with Sand Dune VFC and Mini Mistletoe using  a mixture of Avocado and Shady Lane. I stamped Holly and Mini Holly onto the 2 smaller rectangles using Rainforest VFC, and the word “Joy” from Seasonal Words onto the small square surrounded by mini stars stamped with Brilliance ink.

 I coloured Bobby with Zig pens and Signo white pen, the holly berries with red Signo pen topped with Sakura Stardust pen, and the mistletoe berries with white Signo pen topped with clear Sakura Stardust pen. I added highlights to Bobby, the holly and mistletoe with white Signo pen, and outlined the greeting with clear Stardust pen to add sparkle. I added white Posca snowflakes and snowfall on the branch of the largest panel, then attached all the pieces to the outer frame and matted onto a piece cut from a large snippet of dark green linen card stock which I had distressed with my distressing tool.

Stamps: Lavinia Bobby, Holly, Mini Holly, Mini Mistletoe, Seasonal Words, Mini Stars 1;
Media: Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink (Mowed Lawn); Versafine Clair (Nocturne, Sand Dune, Pinecone, Rainforest, Shady Lane, Avocado); Kuretake Zig Clean Color watercolour pens; Signo pens (red, white); Sakura Stardust pens (red, clear); Posca pen (white);
Tools: AALL & Create #57 Parallel Rectangles dies.

Challenges I would like to enter:

12 Months of Christmas #118 - Anything Goes Christmas
ABC Christmas (January) - A is for Anything Christmas
Crafty Calendar (January) - Add a Die Cut (2nd entry)
FarmQuest Country Christmas #16 - Anything Outdoorsy Christmas
Jingle Belles - Something Old, Something New
(New die set, old Christmas sentiment and mini holly stamps)
Krafty Chicks #750 - Christmas
Merry Little Christmas #60 - Anything Christmas Goes
Peace On Earth #79 - Anything Christmas Goes
Word Art Wednesday #681/682 - Anything Goes (3rd entry)

I’m just about sick and tired now of staying indoors due to the snow and ice - it has lain in our side road all week now, making going out completely treacherous either on foot or in the car.  It’s supposed to be starting to thaw today … fingers crossed, so long as it doesn’t cause more flooding! Hope everyone is staying safe. Take care, and thanks for visiting.
Hugs,
.

GREAT CHOICE of die set with your winnings Pauline. You've made a superb festive card with the dies, coupled with your Lavinia stamps.

Thanks for coming to play in the Snippets Playground - and for your kind words. See you up in the treehouse (for another legendary party) shortly. xxx

We haven't had snow and ice but lots of frost and freezing weather, our shops are only two streets away and ventured out with my 4 wheeled shopping trolley yesterday despite warnings from my daughter but three days in was driving me crazy!!! Beautiful card, I love the postage collage dies and all the little images you used.

A really lovely die to have chosen as your prize and it looks great as a Christmas card with the various stamped images. A good one for using up snippets too.
