Magnolia vs Stampavie #14 - Colour Challenge

Well I'm sitting here this morning feeling a bit sorry for myself as I woke up feeling shivery, achey and full of cold, so I have taken the day off sick to dose up, nap and recuperate. Before doing that I thought I would just load up the card I made last night before the lurgy set in .. for the first time in a long while I have taken part in the Magnolia versus Stampavie Challenge, which this week is a colour combo.

Loved the look of this colour combination so had a root through my stash to see what I could find - not sure how exactly I have managed to match up the shades, but this is the best I could produce with available supplies.
Recipe:
Image: Sarah Kay "Precious Moments" coloured with watercolour pencils, and edges distressed with Walnut Stain and Antique Linen distressed inks;
Sentiment (inside): Penny Black;
Paper: BasicGrey "Two Scoops", with the edges distressed as above;
Flowers: Prima and Papermania;
Lace: RAK from Cathy;
Buttons, gems and brads from my stash.

Here's a pic of the inside - couldn't seem to get the light right on this one so it is a bit dark.

Just off to get my feet up now and get some rest! Hope the DT over at MmvS will get to see this card as I can't see Mr Linky ... this seems to be a problem on a number of challenge blogs for Vista users - anyone else have this problem?
Have a great day.
I have also realised in the nick of time (which I didn't previously in my befuddled state) that this card fits the theme and timing of this week's Secret Crafter Challenge #19 which is Spring has Sprung ... so I hope it is ok to enter it for that too :-)

Magnolia v Stampavie #3 - Tie that Sketch

This is my first entry for the Magnolia versus Stampavie Challenge and is a bit last minute .... but being as I won one of the blog candy Christmas stamps that launched this challenge I thought it was about time I brought it out to play!

The challenge is a fab sketch which was very easy to work with - here's my attempt. Off to make a few more Christmas cards now :-)

Main image: Sarah Kay "Christmas Magic" - coloured with wartercolour pencils
Sentiment: Penny Black
Paper: couldn't find a name on it
Flowers: Prima Christmas Bubble
Pearls brads; Papermania
Ribbon and lace: from my stash.

Sarah Kay Treats .... and a cupcake

Until yesterday I had only ever made one Sarah Kay card with a swapped image from Cathy, but I loved the image so much I bought my first Sarah Kay stamp on my outing to Port Sunlight craft fair, and was raring to go with it ....

This week's Sarah Kay Challenge #16 is Treat Yourself .... make something that ties in with your favourite treats eg. chocolates, cakes etc. Now I love chocs and cakes as much as the next woman, but my imagination and talent failed me when it came to making stuff like dinky boxes and bags to pop treats into. So ..... I took my mind off in a different direction - I needed to make another image wallet for a friend .... and what is more of a "treat" for us crafters than getting an image wallet through the post (all the joy of the stamp without the credit card bill LOL!!) So that is what I have made!

I also used the sketch from this week's Cupcake Craft Challenge #10, which I thought seemed particularly apt seeing as we're talking about edible treats :-) Unfortunately my eyesight must be going, cos it is only now as I load the pic that I have noticed where the sentiment should go - oops!! My excuse is that I was distracted by the logo LOL!! Well anyway - I did my best !

I used: stamp by Sarah Kay; background/inner papers by BasicGrey "Two Scoops"; flowers by Cardology and Prima; pearl brad and flower gem by Papermania; peeloff greeting, buttons and ribbon from my stash.

My first Sarah Kay Challenge

I have never previously taken part in a Sarah Kay challenge as I don't own any of the stamps (yet!) but I was recently gifted a few by my friend Cathy, so I thought I'd have a go this week, and would use the outcome as my Docrafts image swap wallet for Vonnie.
Sarah Kay Challenge #11 is a trio of papers, which I have to say is right up my street as I have developed a serious obsession for multiple co-ordinating papers on cards recently LOL!

I used: base mottled green cardstock from the Papermill shop; 3 papers by K&Co; flowers by Prima; pearl brads and small gemstone flowers (which are actually blue in daylight!) by Papermania; seintiment by ge studio; ribbon from my stash. The inside of the wallet is decorated with the same flowery stripe paper as is used immediately behind the image on the card front. I also had a go at faux stitiching as one of the papers already had some as part of the design.
